DOCUMENTATION & RECIPE MANAGEMENT
Read and write real Excel files
Exchanging data between Excel files (XLSX, XLSM) and a Siemens S7 PLC has never been easier. Thanks to our new TIA source import, it’s easier than ever before.
- Create Excel reports
- Evaluating measurement data
- Recipes for items to be produced
- XLSM, XLSX and CSV file formats
Create PDF and HTML files with the S7
Easily create PDF documents or HTML files from your PLC data and determine how they should look.
- Create authentic PDF documents
- Providing HTML files for web servers
- Layout and scaling adjustable
- Display of tables and diagrams possible
Deliver machine data as website + external interface
Integrated webserver with REST API
You have been able to create HTML files with DataSuite for some time. Now DataSuite can also deliver them directly as a web server in the network via web page. This allows you to display machine data and statistics easily on other PCs, tablets or mobile phones.
It has never been easier to use PLC data in your own applications. With the new update, external applications – whether self-programmed or purchased – can access and use machine and plant data.
- Machine data and statistics as website
- Standard interface for external software
- Simple and easy: Everything in one application
OPC-UA for secure data communication
With OPC-UA you can increase your security in the network by encryption and authentication. Another advantage of OPC-UA: Simply use optimised blocks from Siemens S7 controllers or connect controllers from other manufacturers.
- Significantly increase network security through encryption
- Read optimised blocks from Siemens S7
- The manufacturer-independent standard
“By integrating OPC-UA, encrypted data connections to machines can now also be established. We are thus making an important contribution to IT security in production.”

Print Excel files
You want to print your captured data directly on paper? With the print feature this is easily possible. In addition, use the design options of Excel and create professional printouts directly from the PLC.
- Printing XLSX, XLSM or CSV files
- Setting the page layout and orientation
- Set printing colour
- Individual design options (insert logo, etc.)
- Create authentic documents & diagrams
Send e-mails and SMS
Your machine has a standstill or maintenance is due? Monitor the plant status by your Siemens S7 PLC sending an e-mail or SMS to you. In the e-mail attachment you can even send an Excel document with PLC data.
- Optimise maintenance and servicing
- Always the latest KPIs (downtimes, quantities, …)
- Uncomplicated monitoring of the machine park
- Fast detection of faults & errors
- Possible without SIM card or mobile phone
- Excel file with machine data can be attached
“The e-mail function works great. For now we use it to send production data to ourselves at the end of shifts; paperless.”

Use SQL databases easily
With DataSuite, you can also use SQL databases with the S7. Write production data or read production orders and parts lists. The possibilities are manifold. The best thing about it: you don’t need VBA! Everything is intuitive and simple.
- All major databases are supported: MS-SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL
- No VB scripts, SQL queries and programming necessary
- Simple queries (read/write) preconfigured
- Also possible: Complex SQL statements for DB professionals
Performance Mode
Sophisticated data caching enables very fast storage of PLC data in Excel files. The new DataSuite 3 is faster than ever.
- Data caching for best performance
- Triggers can be executed faster
- Even large amounts of data can be stored in Excel files

New actions for triggers
You can now execute several actions in succession in a trigger. In addition, errors such as a connection interruption or a new file in a monitored folder can now also be used as a trigger condition.
- Triggers can perform several actions in succession
- Error messages and PC time usable
- Directory monitoring
TIME SAVING
Variable import from TIA Portal
Save time by importing one or more data blocks from your TIA Portal. This way you do not have to create all variables yourself.
- Import data blocks from TIA Portal
- Configure large projects quickly
- More convenience and less work
Even more flexible use of Excel files with the PLC
Write specifically into individual Excel sheets of a workbook or copy and move files as you like. The new DataSuite 3 offers you even more possibilities to implement your applications in the best possible way.
- Trigger for file open/move/delete
- Write to specific Excel tabs
- Select file names flexibly, e.g. via PLC variable
- Blockwise reading and writing of data for large data volumes
- Read and write Excel data row by row and cell by cell for easy configuration
Import settings from version 2
If you want to transfer presets from the previous version to DataSuite 3, it is quite uncomplicated with one click.
- Transfer settings from version 2 to 3
- Save time, because settings are easily applied
It also works without PLC program changes
Even more flexible and individual. With DataSuite 3, you can freely select your trigger conditions. A complex PLC handshake is just as possible as simple data acquisition without PLC program changes.
- Trigger variables freely selectable and configurable
- Simple applications possible without PLC intervention
- Straightforward no-code editor
Start external applications with the PLC
Start any external application, such as Excel, or run a batch script. Simply as a trigger in your PLC program.
- Passing parameters when calling
- Launching an external application on the computer
- Set the maximum waiting time for the application
RELIABLE DATA TRANSMISSION
Handshake and heartbeat for a reliable connection
Our built-in handshake procedure (variable values 1/2/4/8) in combination with the heartbeat ensures a reliable and always monitored data transfer between the DataSuite and the PLC.
- Secured data transmission with handshake
- Bidirectional connection monitoring with heartbeat
- Malfunctions and interruptions are detected immediately
- Effectively prevent data loss
Read-Only Mode
As a further safety feature, we have developed the activatable read-only mode for you. This ensures under all circumstances that no data is changed in the PLC. Especially in connection with the release of data for external programs with our REST API, this is a useful addition.
- Extended security for external API access
- Increased safety for reporting applications
- It couldn't be simpler: Set a tick to switch on

We also develop individual software extensions for your needs!
DataSuite is the software for capturing and processing machine data and plant data.
It can be used in a variety of ways and can replace traditional machine data collection software. It can also be used to connect SQL databases or to create PDF or Excel documents with machine data.
The possibilities of DataSuite are as diverse and individual as your applications.
With the DataSuite software, you can also print out diagrams and test reports in tabular form with your Siemens S7 PLC or save them as a file.
The highlight: You can also load or write data and files from the PC to your machine control (PLC/S7). These can be, for example, Excel files with recipes for your production or order data from your ERP system, e.g. SAP.
