DataSuite 3 functions and features explained in detail

PC/VM installations
We offer 2 types of licenses:
1. Hardware bound activation codes
You can activate this license on a PC or Virtual Machine (VM). The “Basic” and “Classic” licenses include one activation each, “Standard” and “Pro” include 2 activations each. Once activated, a license can be unlocked by our support team for a fee if, for example, the activated PC is defective.
2. Floating licenses with USB dongle
This license is not bound to a PC, but to a USB dongle. As long as the dongle is plugged in, you can use DataSuite. So you can use your license with it on several PCs, but not at the same time.

PLC/OPC-UA connections
Number of PLC/OPC-UA connections per installation. Example: You have purchased a standard license. This includes 2 installations with 2 PLC connections each.

Number of variables/items
There is no limit to the number of PLC variables that can be used in DataSuite.

S7 communication (Put/Get)
Connection to a Siemens S7 PLC via Ethernet. All Siemens S7 PLCs with Profinet connection are supported. Depending on model and firmware you have to activate the Put/Get communication in the PLC configuration to use this communication way. At this kind of PLC communication only not optimized data blocks can be read. Basically only data blocks are supported, but flags, I/Os, etc. can be mirrored to DBs by you in the PLC program, so that these data are also accessible. The communication is not encrypted. If you need optimized blocks or encrypted communication, you should use OPC UA communication.

Import TIA Portal variables
In TIA Portal you can export the data blocks to be used by the DataSuite into a file. This can be easily and comfortably read in by the DataSuite. Alternatively or additionally you can add addresses and DBs manually to the DataSuite configuration. With an OPC UA connection, the data blocks are imported directly from the PLC.

Row, cell, block trigger
You have 3 possibilities how to write data into table oriented files, e.g. an Excel file: Row by row, cell by cell or as a block. See the manual for more details.

Read/write CSV files
Read and write CSV files. Custom separators/delimiters can be set.

Custom file templates
By using templates, you can completely determine the appearance of the generated Excel files. You can include graphics/logos, charts, formulas, text formatting. This allows you to create visually appealing and feature-rich Excel files.

Copy/move/delete files
Trigger-based file operations allow flexible handling of created files. For example, you can move a line-by-line Excel file to another folder, e.g. named “Completed Reports”, after it has been completed. This is very handy when other systems like ERP monitor this directory to read in new files.

Read/write Excel files (xlsx)
Read and write real Excel files (xlsx/xlsm). No Excel installation is required. DataSuite can create and read these files itself. When writing, the Excel file must not be opened by another program.

SQL database
Read and write data to a SQL database, e.g. MS SQL Server

OPC-UA
An alternative to Put/Get communication. With OPC-UA PLC data can be transferred via an encrypted connection. Optimized data blocks from Siemens controllers can also be used. OPC-UA is manufacturer-independent, so that controllers from other manufacturers can also be connected in this way.

Send e-mail/SMS
Sending e-mails or SMS based on triggers. The contents of the messages can be freely defined. You can combine static texts with PLC variables. Example: “Warning: machine 5, error: temperature extruder too high, measured value: 137 degrees”.

PDF and HTML file export
Allows to save all Excel files created by DataSuite in PDF or HTML file format.

Start external apps
Start any external application or script in a DataSuite trigger. These can be, for example, Powershell or Python scripts to which data from a PLC can be passed as parameters.

Print
Allows to print all Excel files created by DataSuite on a printer. It is also possible to print foreign Excel files.

Rest API
Programming interface that allows other programs to use DataSuite. This can be useful to easily access data from machines and plants.

Integrated web server
With the integrated web server, generated HTML files are made available on the network so that you can view the generated reports and reports on several PCs at the same time.

Shelly energy measurement
Simply record the power consumption of your machines and systems in Excel. Utilise the power of this powerful tool for your energy data acquisition. In addition or in parallel, you can also write your energy values to SQL databases.

DataSuite is the software for capturing and processing machine data and plant data.

It can be used in a variety of ways and can replace traditional machine data collection software. It can also be used to connect SQL databases or to create PDF or Excel documents with machine data.

The possibilities of DataSuite are as diverse and individual as your applications.

With the DataSuite software, you can also print out diagrams and test reports in tabular form with your Siemens S7 PLC or save them as a file.

The highlight: You can also load or write data and files from the PC to your machine control (PLC/S7). These can be, for example, Excel files with recipes for your production or order data from your ERP system, e.g. SAP.
