Run DataSuite as a Windows Service

Lesedauer: 1 min

YRunning DataSuite as a Windows Service is the best choice for a stable and automated setup. In service mode, DataSuite runs in the background and continues working even when no user is logged in. This is essential for production environments where data must be collected continuously without interruptions.

Benefits of Running as a Windows Service #

  • Automatic start after reboot: DataSuite launches as soon as Windows starts.
  • No user login required: Ideal for servers and industrial PCs.
  • Reliable data collection: Tasks continue even if user sessions are disconnected.

Using the Windows Service mode for DataSuite ensures high reliability and is strongly recommended for production use.

How to Enable Windows Service Mode #

To run DataSuite as a Windows Service, select this option during the installation process.
If you have already installed DataSuite as a desktop application, simply rerun the setup and switch to Windows Service mode.

After installation, you can still use the desktop application to configure DataSuite. All settings are automatically applied to the service, so no duplicate configuration is needed.

Important Notes #

  • Administrator rights are required for installation and execution as a service.
  • Ensure the Windows account used for the service has the necessary permissions for directories, database access, and network communication.
  • If triggers or database connections fail, the cause is often missing service permissions.

When Should You Use Windows Service Mode? #

Windows Service mode is ideal for:

  • Server environments in corporate networks
  • Production systems without user sessions
  • Applications that require 24/7 data collection
